Daniel James Alpert

b. September 1, 1989, Houston, TX

Daniel James Alpert is a Phoenix-based photographer cataloging the American Southwest through hyper-realistic landscape and astro-photography often depicting the sublime nature of our natural environment. Daniel's work depicts awe-inspiring, naturally-occurring phenomena, seldom captured on camera. He portrays the Universe’s cyclical and continually evolving natural magnetism of light and energy against our Earth's physical landscape environment.

Alpert graduated from Northern Arizona University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Photography and since has been on an earth-wild, light chasing, documentarian adventure. Alpert is a self-described simple scientist attempting to understand the Universe by observing and studying light. He explains:

Headshot+me-3.jpg

We each have our piece of scientific equipment (camera) and we take measurements (metering) and collect and interpret data (raw files) and then once all that is done, we get to add our own personal signature through digital darkroom processes.

Alpert is an accomplished and technically skilled photographer who particularly excels at and enjoys capturing large-expanse nightscapes, rare astronomical events/alignments, and chasing the perfect light. One can often find him in the badlands somewhere with a bag full of camera gear and his eyes on the horizon.

Daniel is an ambassador for SLIK USA© Tripods, Lume Cube© lights, and Cotopaxi© outdoor gear.

The first blog I wrote as a SLIK USA© Tripod ambassador. The SLIK USA© astro-tracker is a device used in tandem with my equipment to track the stars as the earth rotates allowing me to take longer exposures therefore sharper photos. I explain all this and more in the blog
